When you click a sign-in link from your email, it should automatically open the Moongate app to complete the sign-in process. In most cases, this works seamlessly. However, you may occasionally see a 404 page or get stuck on a "Redirecting to Moongate" screen. This guide will help you troubleshoot the issue.
Make sure the Moongate app is installed and updated
The latest version of the Moongate app must be installed on the same device you're using to open the sign-in link.
Open the sign-in link using the Safari browser
Not all browsers support opening apps. Copy and paste the sign-in link and paste it into the Safari browser.
Tap the blue “Open” button
If you see a blue Open button in the top-right corner of the screen, tap it. This can help continue the redirect when it doesn’t happen automatically.
Restart your device
A simple restart can often help your device recognize the universal link format.
Wait 15–30 minutes and try again
Sometimes iOS takes a bit of time to fully associate the app with the link, especially right after installation. Waiting and retrying can resolve the issue.
Why does this happen
When you tap a sign-in link, iOS uses Apple’s Universal Links system to determine whether to open the Moongate app. This system checks in the background to see if the app is installed and ready to handle the link.
In the vast majority of cases, this process works without any issues.
Occasionally, though, iOS doesn’t complete this connection right away, especially if the app was just installed or hasn't been opened yet. When that happens, the link may open in Safari instead, leading to a 404 page or a stalled "Redirecting to Moongate" screen.
This behavior is entirely controlled by iOS and typically resolves on its own. The steps above can help speed things up.
